Director of People position with the African Medical Centre of Excellence in partnership with King’s College Hospital London - in Abuja, Nigeria
Are you looking for a new, exciting and challenging opportunity to expand your portfolio of expertise? We would like to invite an experienced Director of People to lead our Human Resources function at our ground breaking healthcare facility in Nigeria, West Africa!
African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) commenced the construction of its African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) project in Abuja, Nigeria. It will provide excellent healthcare to both low and high-income patient groups across the continent. The AMCE in Partnership with King's College Hospital London will be located in Abuja, which is a hub for travel in Nigeria and West Africa, enabling it to attract patients across the region. The Centre will be starting with a 170-bed specialist hospital before expanding to a 500-bed facility.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a proven Director of People that will be able to provide a clear HR plan for the entire workforce whilst empowering through an exceptional level of leadership service in both a strategic and operational function to the project.
• Have extensive experience in HR business practices and the effective management of employees.
• Have in-depth knowledge and acumen of recruitment practices, CPD as well as achievement and review of the people strategy and objectives.
• Have prior set up management experience.
• Have previously initiated a strong learning and development culture and leading on workforce development opportunities throughout the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Will lead the team by setting any performance related targets, supporting, coaching and development and providing high quality HR functions to the business.
• Ensuring that HR systems and processes within the project are fully functioning and achieving maximum efficiency and quality.
• Ensure correct governances arrangements, which include the management of finance and regulatory activity where appropriate.
• Making sure that all HR functions comply with the governance standards
• Act as lead for Equality & Diversity in the HR department to ensure the development and effective implementation of a strategy, set of policies, procedures and monitoring and control systems are in place.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree or equivalent in relevant experience (Human Resources)
• Chartered status within CIPD or other globally recognised accreditation (Level 7 CIPD ideally).
• Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development.
• Successful proven experience as a Director of HR.
